When Masuhun arrives in Jimenez de la Frontera, at the ancient church of  Nuestra Senora de los Angeles, his newfound friend, Amador disappears abandoning him in a country where he is a total stranger. Sleeping in the lee of some trees outside the church, he is awoken in the early morning by an ancient lady wrapped in layers of cloaks. She frightens him by knowing his name and about his father and then goes on to tell him of his destiny. He falls asleep warmed by a cloak she has lent him, and when he awakes she is gone and so is the cloak.
